 Transportation is not just about getting from point A to point B. It’s about freedom, independence, and the ability to live your life to the fullest. That’s why we’re proud to offer transportation services for the intellectually disabled through Uber.
Cindy Seemiller saw this need firsthand and inspired her to bring waiver-funded transportation through Uber to OneWell. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a life of purpose and adventure. That starts with having access to reliable and affordable transportation. Join us in our mission to empower the intellectually disabled and give them the tools they need to live their best life.
You may have heard the phrase “the tyranny of distance,” which refers to the difficulty of traveling long distances. In many cases, people with intellectual disabilities are limited by their lack of transportation options and thus unable to access necessary services like medical care or school. This can be especially detrimental for those who live in rural areas where public transit options are limited or nonexistent.
In addition to limiting access to basic necessities, relying on others for transportation also has an impact on quality of life–it can make individuals feel dependent and powerless over their own lives because they don’t have control over how they get around (or if). Having reliable transportation gives people with IDD more independence and autonomy than not having it does; it allows them greater freedom from others’ schedules as well as increased mobility within their communities so they can engage socially without being tied down by needing someone else’s help all the time!
OneWell’s mission to provide reliable transportation services to the IDD community has been a beacon of hope for many individuals who have struggled to access the basic necessities of life. Our commitment to promoting inclusive and safe services to our participants has been the driving force behind our success, and we are proud to have been able to make a positive impact on the lives of so many people.
