What Is ABA Therapy?
ABA therapy at OneWell
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically validated treatment focused on identifying the relationship between behavior and the environment and teaching functional, adaptive skills that improve quality of life.
Our Care Philosophy
OneWell’s ABA Clinical Philosophy
Our ABA services are grounded in the following principles:
Medical Necessity
Services are authorized and delivered only when required to treat functional impairments associated with autism spectrum disorder or related developmental disabilities.
Person-Centered Care
Treatment plans are individualized and reflect the person’s preferences, strengths, cultural context, and family priorities.
Ethical & Respectful Practice
Goals emphasize dignity, autonomy, safety, and meaningful participation in daily life.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Clinical decisions are based on ongoing measurement of progress and objective outcome data.
Family & Caregiver Collaboration
Caregivers are active partners in treatment planning, implementation, and generalization of skills.
What a week in therapy looks like
Each child receives an individualized plan tailored to their unique needs. We recommend only the number of therapy hours that are clinically appropriate.
Lucas
30+ Hours / Week“The intensity of services allowed Lucas to work on communication, independence, and behavior support throughout the week. We appreciated how closely the BCBA collaborated with our family to support progress across environments.”
Ethan
10 Hours / Week“Working with OneWell at a manageable and clinically appropriate number of hours helped us focus on what mattered most at home and maintain an achievable and consistent schedule. Ethan made progress with following routines and communicating his needs.”
Maya
20 Hours / Week“With a more consistent schedule, Maya worked on communication and social skills while also learning ways to manage frustration. Maya receives services Monday through Friday starting after school until right before our family's nighttime routine.”
The OneWell ABA Service Pathway
Comprehensive, connected care designed to support your child's journey every step of the way.
1. Referral & Intake
The journey begins with a simple inquiry from a parent, school, or medical provider. Our team conducts an immediate screening to confirm eligibility and ensure our clinical approach is the right match for your child.
2. Benefits & Verification
We handle the paperwork for you. Our administrative team verifies benefits and collects necessary documents, including:
- Diagnostic Evaluations
- Physician Referrals
- Insurance Authorizations
Outcome: Families receive a clear explanation of coverage and next steps.
3. Clinical Meet & Greet
Before testing begins, we meet personally with your family. This crucial step allows us to review the ABA process, discuss your specific goals, and ensure our clinical team fits your family culture.
4. Comprehensive Assessment
A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts a deep-dive assessment using tools like VB-MAPP or ABLLS-R. This includes:
- Caregiver Interviews
- Direct Observation
- Functional Behavior Assessment
We identify both functional deficits and priority treatment goals.
5. The Treatment Plan
Based on the assessment, the BCBA develops a custom roadmap for your child. The plan covers medical goals, intervention strategies, and data collection methods.
This plan is reviewed with you and submitted to insurance for final authorization.
6. Direct ABA Services
Therapy begins! Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) deliver one-on-one services under BCBA supervision. We operate where the child needs us most:
- At Home
- In the Community
- At School (when approved)
7. Growth & Graduation
Our goal is to fade out. The BCBA conducts regular supervision and reviews progress data to modify the treatment.
When goals are met, we initiate transition planning, celebrating your child's graduation from services.
