At OneWell Health Care, meaningful support begins with people who lead with empathy and help others feel seen, heard, and valued. This month, we are proud to recognize OneWell’s August 2026 Employees of the Month: Shaelyn Caceres, Dominique Harrison, and Shalmali “Shal” Jha.
Although they serve OneWell in different roles, each of them contributes to the same purpose: improving lives through compassionate, person-centered support.
Shaelyn Caceres: Creating Safety Through Compassion
For Shaelyn Caceres, becoming a Direct Support Professional was deeply personal. Born and raised in New York City in a Puerto Rican family, she entered the field after losing her father to cancer in 2020. The experience shaped her understanding of how much compassionate care matters—especially during moments of fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability.
Today, Shaelyn brings that understanding to every person she supports, offering the same dignity, patience, and compassion she wanted for her father.
“I treat my clients as family, because that’s the only way to do it in my eyes. We are all human and deserve the same level of care, love, and opportunity.”
During her first year in the field, one moment has stayed especially close to her. An individual who had initially been quiet and withdrawn gradually opened up and told Shaelyn that they felt safe talking with her. It was a powerful reminder that meaningful support does not always begin with a major breakthrough. Sometimes, it begins with simply being present, listening without judgment, and helping someone feel truly heard.

Dominique Harrison: Guiding People Toward Safety and Stability
For Dominique Harrison, a meaningful career is one that creates positive change in people’s lives. Over the past 12 years, she has grown from a home health aide to a Direct Support Professional, team leader, and now Program Specialist.
Dominique was drawn to this field after seeing people with disabilities treated without the kindness and respect they deserved. She wanted to help create a different experience—one where every individual is recognized, valued, and supported as the unique person they are.
Some of her most meaningful experiences have involved supporting individuals who need respite services or emergency housing. During these uncertain moments, Dominique has helped people move beyond difficult circumstances and take important steps toward safer, more stable living situations.
“I have had the pleasure of making them feel seen, heard, valued, and most importantly, safe—and that is the best joy a person can ask for.”
For Dominique, these moments are more than professional achievements. They are reminders of what compassionate support can make possible when someone knows they no longer have to face uncertainty alone.

Shalmali “Shal” Jha: Building the Teams Behind Exceptional Care
For Shalmali “Shal” Jha, meaningful care begins with building the right team. As OneWell’s Talent Manager, she brings more than 16 years of experience in talent acquisition and Human Resources across healthcare, behavioral health, nursing, rehabilitation, technology, and corporate operations.
Shal chose a career in Human Resources because she saw an opportunity to help organizations grow through their people. She understands that a thoughtful hiring decision reaches far beyond filling a position: it can strengthen workplace culture, improve the employee experience, and ultimately influence the quality of support individuals receive.
Although much of Shal’s work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt throughout OneWell. The stories shared by field staff and operational teams serve as powerful reminders that every person welcomed into the organization has the potential to make a meaningful difference.
“Every successful hire represents an opportunity to improve someone’s quality of life. Those moments reinforce why building great teams matters.”
For Shal, building strong teams is not simply about finding qualified professionals. It is about bringing together compassionate people who share OneWell’s commitment to supporting individuals and their families.
