At OneWell Health Care, we’re proud to celebrate our employees and share the stories behind their work. Every day, they bring care, patience, and commitment to the people and communities we serve. Our Employee of the Month series gives us a chance to recognize their contributions and hear what this work means to them.
Earlier this month, we celebrated our Direct Support Professionals during DSP Recognition Week. While the week has come to a close, the relationships they build and the opportunities they help create continue to make a difference every day.
This September, we’re celebrating Dayquan Robison, our Employee of the Month and a Direct Support Professional (DSP) whose experience shows how patience and steady encouragement can help someone explore new opportunities in their community.
Dayquan Robison: Encouraging New Experiences Through Patience and Trust
Born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, Dayquan has always enjoyed helping and teaching others. He believes his experiences growing up helped inspire him to pursue a career supporting people. Now a DSP with a little over two years of experience, he tries to find a positive way forward when faced with both everyday tasks and difficult challenges.
When Dayquan first joined OneWell, he began supporting an individual who preferred spending time in his room watching cartoons rather than going out or joining activities. Dayquan took time to get to know him. Over approximately six months, he built a relationship through patience, positivity, encouragement, and consistency.
Dayquan wanted the individual to know that he genuinely cared about him. As their relationship grew, the individual began spending more time outside his room, attending public events, and participating in social activities. Seeing him enjoy those experiences was deeply rewarding for Dayquan and left a lasting impression on him.
The progress took time. Dayquan’s experience shows how a trusting relationship and steady support can help someone feel more comfortable taking part in their community.
Career Advice From Our Employee of the Month
For anyone considering a career as a Direct Support Professional, Dayquan offers this advice:
“Be patient, compassionate, and treat others the way you would want to be treated.”
Dayquan reminds those entering the field that they may not know what another person is going through. In his experience, kindness, patience, and encouragement can make a significant difference in someone’s day—and even in their life.
For anyone new to the field, the NADSP Code of Ethics is a helpful resource for understanding the values behind respectful, person-centered support.
Growing Together at OneWell
What Dayquan enjoys most about working at OneWell is its strong support system. He appreciates knowing that someone is willing to step in, offer guidance, and help others become better each day. For him, this willingness to support one another is an important part of the experience of being on the team.
His reflections connect two parts of his work: the encouragement he offers the individuals he supports and the guidance he receives from his colleagues. Supporting someone through new experiences takes patience and consistency. Having people to turn to for help creates opportunities to learn, consider different approaches, and grow through the challenges that come with the role.
Our Employee of the Month series gives us an opportunity to share these perspectives in employees’ own words. Alongside recognizing their contributions, we want to hear about the experiences that have shaped them, the advice they would offer others, and the support they value in their working lives.
Congratulations on being named OneWell Health Care’s September 2026 Employee of the Month, Dayquan. Thank you for sharing your experience, for the care you bring to the relationships you build, and for reminding us how much steady encouragement can mean to another person. 💙
